Tibia Cities & Map Guide - Navigating the World
Tibia Cities & Map Guide: Navigating the World
Tibia’s world is massive, and knowing your way around is a huge advantage. Each city has different shops, NPCs, hunting grounds, and quest lines. This guide covers every major city, what it offers, how to get there, and which one to call home.
Rookgaard — The Beginner Island
Every Tibia character starts here. Rookgaard is a small, safe island designed to teach you the basics.
What’s here:
- Basic weapon, armor, and equipment NPCs
- Low-level creatures (rats, wolves, trolls, minotaurs)
- Beginner quests (Doublet, Katana, Minotaur Hell)
- The Oracle — the NPC who sends you to the mainland at level 8
Important: Once you leave Rookgaard, you can never return. Complete all quests and explore everything before talking to the Oracle.
When you leave, you choose your vocation and a mainland city to start in.

How to Travel Between Cities
Walking
The simplest method. Follow roads between cities, but be careful — the wilderness between cities can be dangerous. Stick to roads and avoid straying into unknown territory, especially at low levels.
Boats
Most coastal cities have a boat NPC. Talk to them and say “passage” or the city name to buy a ticket. Boat travel is:
- Instant (you teleport to the destination city)
- Cheap (usually 40-200 gold)
- Safe (no risk of death during travel)
Major boat routes:
- Thais to Carlin, Venore, Ab’Dendriel, Edron, Ankrahmun, Darashia
- Most cities connect to Thais as a hub
Magic Carpet
Some cities have magic carpet NPCs that fly you to other carpet stations. Works like boats but connects different locations.
Temple Teleports
Your home temple is your respawn point. You can set your home city by saying “hi” then “yes” to the temple NPC in any city. You’ll respawn there when you die.
Choosing Your Home City
Your home city is where you respawn after death and where you should keep your main depot (storage). Choose based on:
- Thais — Best for beginners. Central, full services, most players
- Edron — Best for mid-to-high level players. Amazing hunting access
- Venore — Best for traders. Active market
- Ankrahmun — Best for players who’ve done the Djinn quest. Premium loot selling
You can change your home city at any time by visiting the temple in a new city and setting it as your home. Keep your most valuable items in your home city’s depot.
Navigation Tips for Mobile Players
- Memorize the boat routes — boat travel is fast and safe, perfect for mobile play
- Don’t walk through dangerous areas — on mobile, getting ambushed while traveling is harder to survive. Take the boat instead
- Use landmarks — each city has a distinct visual style. Learn to recognize where you are
- Set home wisely — pick a home city near where you hunt most. Less travel time means more hunting time
- Explore in daylight — underground areas are dark. Bring torches or use the light spell (“utevo lux”)
City Progression Path
A typical player progression through cities:
- Rookgaard (levels 1-8) — Learn the basics
- Thais (levels 8-25) — Your mainland starting point
- Ankrahmun (level 20-30) — Complete the Djinn quest for better selling
- Edron (levels 30+) — Access to mid-and-high level hunting grounds
- Various (levels 50+) — You’ll travel freely between cities based on which hunts you’re doing
Don’t feel locked to one city. As you level up, you’ll naturally explore more of the world. The beauty of Tibia is how interconnected everything is — there’s always a new area to discover, a new city to explore, and a new quest to attempt.
