Tibia Equipment Guide for Beginners - Best Gear by Level

Tibia Equipment Guide for Beginners: Best Gear by Level

Knowing what equipment to wear — and when to upgrade — is one of the biggest advantages a new player can have. The right gear keeps you alive longer, lets you deal more damage, and makes hunting far more efficient. This guide covers the best equipment for each vocation at every level range.

How Equipment Works in Tibia

Every piece of equipment has stats that affect your combat performance:

  • Armor value — reduces physical damage taken (chest armor, legs, helmets)
  • Defense value — how much damage a shield blocks
  • Attack value — how much damage a weapon deals
  • Weight — heavier gear slows you down if you exceed your capacity

Some equipment also provides elemental resistance — reducing damage from fire, ice, earth, energy, or other elements. This matters a lot in specific hunts.

Equipment Slots

Your character has these equipment slots:

  • Head — Helmets and hats
  • Chest — Armor and robes
  • Legs — Leg armor
  • Feet — Boots
  • Left hand — Shield or second weapon
  • Right hand — Weapon (sword, axe, club, bow, crossbow, wand, rod)
  • Ring — Rings with various effects
  • Necklace — Amulets with various effects

Rookgaard Equipment (Levels 1-8)

On Rookgaard, your options are limited but still matter:

Complete the Rookgaard quests before leaving — the brass armor especially is worth the effort.

Knight Equipment

Knights are gear-dependent. Your armor and weapon directly determine your survivability and damage output.

Essential Accessories

Rings

  • Ring of Healing — passive HP regeneration. Useful for all vocations
  • Life Ring — weaker version of ring of healing, but cheaper
  • Stealth Ring — makes you invisible to most creatures. Great for traveling safely

Amulets

  • Amulet of Losscritical item. Prevents equipment loss on death. Always wear one when carrying valuable gear. See the death and blessings guide for details.
  • Stone Skin Amulet — absorbs physical and death damage. Good for dangerous hunts
  • Platinum Amulet — provides armor bonus

Where to Get Equipment

  1. NPC Shops — Every major city has weapon and armor shops. Basic gear is always available
  2. Quest Rewards — Many of the best items come from quests. The crusader helmet, crown armor, demon helmet, and magic plate armor are all quest rewards
  3. Monster Loot — Creatures drop equipment. Check the monster database to see what drops where
  4. Player Trading — Other players sell gear. Check the market or ask in the trade channel
  5. Crafting — Some items can be crafted by NPCs if you bring the right materials

Equipment Tips for Mobile Players

  • Carry a backup weapon — if your main weapon breaks or you run out of ammo, having a backup prevents a dangerous walk home unarmed
  • Don’t overspend early — you’ll replace low-level gear quickly. Save your gold for level 30+ upgrades where items last longer
  • Weight matters — heavy gear reduces your movement speed if you’re over capacity. Keep an eye on your total weight
  • Match elements to your hunt — if you’re hunting dragons, bring fire resistance gear. Elemental protection makes a massive difference
  • Check the quest rewards first — before buying expensive gear, see if there’s a quest that rewards something equivalent. Questing for gear saves a lot of gold

Your First Shopping List

Just arrived on the mainland at level 8? Here’s what to buy:

  1. Your vocation weapon (sword/axe/club/bow/wand/rod)
  2. Plate armor
  3. Plate legs
  4. Steel helmet
  5. A shield (if your weapon allows it)
  6. Health potions and mana potions
  7. Rope, shovel, and food

Total cost: a few hundred gold — easily earned from your first hunt. Check the money making guide for how to fund your gear upgrades.
